I grew up there. I was a small child when the Towers were being built. I remember seeing the scaffolding and huge cranes. I worked in Tower Two for a short time while in school, ate at Windows on the World, shopped in the Concourse.
I took my younger son to school that day and one of the other mother's was the wife of a CHP officer. Her husband had been called in to work as they had been put on high alert. That was the first time I heard what had happened.
I salute all who ran up the stairs while so many ran down. They gave the greatest gift of all.
